The film is relevant due to the war which is now being experienced by the East and South of Ukraine. We here, in a relatively safe region, have a hard time imagining how people manage to overcome trauma from the destruction of their hometown, homes, from the loss of loved ones. It’s interesting how the director and the protagonist interpret the origins of patriotism: they are not in hate for the other. Rather, they are in the realization of your family roots, in your connection to the land where you were born and spent your childhood.
