Bread from the Minefield

The Kherson region in Ukraine is one of the most contaminated areas with explosive remnants of war. The State Emergency Service reports an acceleration in the pace of demining agricultural land. However, many fields remain uncleared or even unexplored. The film "Bread from the Minefield" portrays the demining situation in Kherson from two perspectives: that of farmers who risk their lives daily working on often-uncleared fields, and that of the deminers who are freeing Kherson’s land from the deadly seeds of war.

The Vgoru Media Platform

"Vgoru" was founded in October 2002 by the charitable organization "Mercy and Health Fund" to support the development of civil society in the Kherson region.

From 2002 to 2017, "Vgoru" was published as a weekly print edition – an independent socio-political newspaper. Today, it operates fully online as the media platform vgoru.org.

The Vgoru Media Platform covers life in the Kherson region and helps people protect their rights.
Our mission: Changing the world for the better.

"Vgoru" is, above all, a creative team, as well as:

  • a news website,

  • an investigative journalism agency,

  • special projects,

  • video production,

  • and social media platforms.

"Vgoru" also serves as a voice for civil society organizations in the Kherson region, a platform for uniting them, for fostering open dialogue between society and authorities, and as a tool for advocacy and human rights campaigns.

The Vgoru Media Platform is independent of political, religious, or commercial interests.
